Come out to ride with your fellow South Floridians, and enjoy the city streets with your bike. Ride in a group and enjoy the presence and safety of a large group of bike riders. Claim the streets back from the automobile and ride pollution-free!
The Miami Critical Mass Ride takes place on the last Friday of each month. The ride starts from Government Center in Downtown Miami and the route is different every month. The rides takes place approximately from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. For more information, visit miamibikescene.blogspot.com.
A few very important general safety tips:
Speed: The average speed is ideally 12mph. Please be able to maintain 12mph, riders are not to exceed 12mph, this is a community ride is NOT a race.
Stopping: If you must stop to check your bike, phone, gear etc please move over to the sidewalk when it's clear. Do not stop abruptly in the middle of the street with the mass behind you. You will more than likely cause a cyclist to hit you and/or swerve and hit someone else.
Passing: A passing cyclist is responsible for the safety of the cyclist that is being passed. When passing ring a bell and/or say "on your left".
Safety Lights: Front & rear lights are required by law in the State of Florida.
Always perform an "ABC Quick" Bike Check ( http://www.sfmta.com/cms/uploadedfiles/dpt/bike/Safety/Chapter%201_ABC%20Quick%20Check.pdf ) to ensure that your bike is in safe working order.
Please, do not ride on the sidewalk.
If you love biking, then come out and enjoy a friendly ride through our beautiful city with a bunch of other bikers. Always a different ride which keeps it interesting. Great times!
