
The Miami Convention Center is a large, multi-purpose event space located in the very heart of Downtown Miami next to the city’s international financial district, Brickell Avenue, and many of the area’s newest hotels and attractions. Within minutes are the Port of Miami, the American Airlines Arena, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, and Bayside Marketplace. The Knight Center Metromover Station is also conveniently located within walking distance.
Among the nation’s most highly regarded convention and entertainment complexes, the Miami Convention Center is one of Greater Miami’s most functional meeting, exhibit and entertainment venues. This major facility, designed to maximize convenience and flexibility, incorporates the University of Miami’s Department of Conference Services & Professional Development and the Hyatt Regency Hotel with 615-rooms. The convention center has 34 well-appointed meeting rooms, including a 444 seat auditorium and a 117 seat lecture hall, and can accommodate from 20 to 5,000 people in a variety of configurations.
Within, the 5,000-seat James L. Knight Center Auditorium boasts sophisticated sound and lighting systems that have met the needs of the most demanding individuals and convention groups, from presidential candidates to Luciano Pavarotti and from the 1994 Summit Congress. A 16,000-square-foot staging area expands the Miami Convention Center’s capabilities to address the special requirement of every type of meeting or event. Riverfront Hall, which opened in 1988, adds 28,000 square feet of exhibit space to the center.
Overlooking the Miami River, the Miami Convention Center has the character of a luxuriously carpeted grand ballroom. The hall is divisible into three separate sections of 4,000, 11,000 and 13,000 square feet. A full complement of utilities includes fluorescent and incandescent lighting, electrical outlets, water services, fully distributed telecommunications access and drop acoustic tile ceilings.
A broad array of services are available at the Miami Convention Center including complete teleconferencing facilities, language translations, audio/visual equipment, registration services and meeting planning services. It also has an in-house catering department and on-premises restaurants allowing for creative flexibility in planning all types of themes and traditional events.
